A song that really crept out of nowhere and one that I don't entirely understand its meaning. Some things in the song I can pinpoint the origin, but some I haven't a clue. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out - semi-ok vocal and all.
lyrics
I used to think I had a kind of armor
Protected me from you
I watch the boats burn in the harbor
Now you want to burn me too
Burn me too
I followed your siren song you left me in the cold
My eyes fluttered and you were gone a sleepy head of gold
I'm the slow king of Germany coronated with a stick and a stone
Abdicated my sanity for a broken plastic throne
Your mouth opens and the thoughts fly from your tongue
Shiny birds that try and block the sun
Poison words that can never be undone
Undone
I see your flags and your drunken armies gathered on the hill
You once swore you'd never harm me but we both know you will
I built a cage for my blinded hours a carriage for your heel
A wooden box of last years flowers I'm pinned against the wheel
I'm the slow king of Germany
Never asked if I want to be
Float across the black pepper sea
And I'm free
I'm free
You walked away like a mystery no answers no reply
I'm the slow king of Germany I loved you now goodbye
